Day 1 Looking for friends for motivation and support.

Hi i need to lose 37 lbs, Ive never dieted before, Ive no idea how im gonna cope as im an extremely picky eater.

    Motivated people can change. Being a picky eater is something you can change. Taste buds can change. It seems to me you've got some pretty compelling (and very cute!) reasons to improve your health and commit to losing weight.

    My suggestion is to start with a series of small steps in the right direction. Find a few fresh fruits and vegetables you like (or would be willing to try) and use that as your base. Ditto with some lean proteins. A hamburger or chicken breast you cook yourself is a heck of a lot better for you than fast food.

    Look, the bottom line is this. A diet rooted in fast food and processed crap is the express train to a premature casket. Think about the void you'd leave for your family if you weren't here any more. And all you would miss out on! Commit to a healthier lifestyle and make it happen. You can have excuses or results, but not both.

    Eating greenery isn't always the yummiest choice when you're used to eating rubbish... unless it's just an addition to a burger or a kebab. For something like a calorie controlled lifestyle you're just going to have to suck it up and eat these foods otherwise trust me, you're going to go hungry. Think about it you could have:

    A big meal full of fresh foods and nutrients or a small meal of processed and fried foods
    A couple of filling low cal snacks or 1 chocolate bar

    When you stop eating so much rubbish you will find your tastebuds change and things that used to taste lovely to you, now taste awful. Things that you used to consider fixed your sweet tooth make your lips pucker...

    If you're serious about it, you need to have a bigger variety in your diet. If you really do not like something then you of course do not have to eat it. Give everything a try, you may be surprised at what your body starts to crave.

    You can lose 37lbs. It requires dedication, hard work, and a commitment to yourself. Once you have those things in place the rest will fall in line. MFP works, IF YOU work it. Take some time to review the "success stories" discussion thread. You will find amazing encouragement there from people who have lost wayyyyy more than you need to. I suggest you get involved in groups that share common interest and goal and all reach out to people for friendships. Set small goals each week/month and work HARD towards those goals. You can do this... just get moving. You have taken step one.. move on to steps 2, 3, 4 etc.
