Hi ya,

I've just upped my calorie allowance to my BMR (1488cals). I'm just wondering who else has and how have you found losing weight since you started this. Also do you eat your exercise cals back? I was thinking of eating half mine back as its a MFP estimate and I think they may be a little generous.

Whats your thoughts on BMR if you do or don't manage your eating this way?

Thanks to everyone who reads this or replies.

BMR is what you would burn if you did nothing but lie in bed all day...not even get up to pee. I'm assuming you do more than that, so you need to eat more.

Do you mean you upped your calorie allownace to your TDEE? If you were eating below BMR, you were doing it wrong.

You should be eating about your BMR or higher every day depending on exercise and such.

I ate MFP's suggested 1280 calories per day for the first 4 months and lost 6 pounds. For the last 3 months I've been eating 1450 (my BMR) and eating back my exersize calores and I've lost 14 pounds. Granted I always low ball my calories burned as I don't trust MFP's numbers.

Buy a heart rate monitor. Best thing in the world. MFP caculated less calories then what I was actually burning. I bought a heart rate monitor at Academy for 60 bucks, definantly worth my money. Eat your calories back that you burn but make sure they are good calories

That's going to be my Christmas gift to myself too.

I am eating about 100 calories over my BMR, which is about a 500 calorie deficit from my TDEE. It has been working for me so far.

I don't like BMR. It leaves a bad after taste in my mouth.
