In honor of our fallen HERO'S for 9/11

:flowerforyou:
It's the eve of the 9/11 attacks that took place in our beloved USA! What were you doing the day of the attacks and how do you memoralize the fallen HERO's of that god for-saken day?

I'll start this off with...I wear the colors of our flag on 9/11 every year since that occurred. I will never forget where I was and what I was doing with the news I had learned that our country was under attack. I was anxious...with my eyes glued to the news watching in horror as the Towers were being hit and falling down...I was on the phone attempting to get someone at my children's school on the phone because my local news repeated that we needed to make arrangements to get our children from school and to stay out of buildings that were skyscrapers. I am forever impacted by that tragedy that occured that day. I still have unanswered questions and theories of what really happened that day...I pray that the families & friends of those that lost loved ones that day look to God for comfort ...it'll never be easy to "close a chapter" on this memory so to speak...these people will forever have to live with this pain and emptiness left in their hearts and souls of their loved ones being murdered!

God Bless America and may he wrap his ams around the whole world over.

This tragedy happened just 2 weeks after the passing of my best friend, my mother, it is also my wedding anniversary-26 years this year. I honor the fallen everyday, they are always in my heart-the ones who lost their lives on that day and their families also.

I was at work when my wife called me and told me about what had happened. Then when I went on-line and found out what was going on my body was at work but my mind was very much tuned in to the horrific tragedy that was taking place. I was numb for the rest of the day. That was all I thought about for the day and many days after. God Bless the fallen HEROS.:flowerforyou: and my thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by the tragedy.:flowerforyou:

I agree with you all...with honoring them everyday! But honestly, some folks forget about tradgedies...they go on with their lives and forget about the things that have effected our world! That day made me realize...we are all on borrowed time...and to stop taking forgranted our LIFE!

I was at work at a middle school. The television was turned on in the office. The school is located in a town with an air force base. Many parents came and picked up their children. I was trying to keep students calm because many of them knew their parent was going to be directly affected. I went to church that night and prayed for the families who lost loved ones that day and the workers who were trying so hard to do there jobs. I also prayed for the innocent people in whatever countries that would be determined as the terrorists because many innocent people would die because of the acts of others.

I am a former English teacher and would never call it a tragedy for spelling in a post. The sentiment of the post is there. People died. Many more suffered. If the reader is upset about the spelling, I suggest you move on. We are here to support each other not to put them down.

I know that sometimes even the smallest comment can affect people negatively. My former way to cope was to eat.

I thought it was a joke at first. Kevin & Bean on the radio are NEVER serious. I didn't believe it was true until I turned on the tv and tried calling my Mom & Dad. I couldn't get through. My parents should have been on a plane that morning but woke up late and missed it. I didn't know that for almost a week. I thought I lost both of them.

I went to work in a daze only to find that they were evacuating (I worked for Disneyland and Victoria's Secret). It was the first time in decades that Disneyland was closed. We all stood outside the gates just looking in.

God Bless all those that lost their lives or are still suffering from the effects of what happened. All of us in some way I'm sure. I visited the 9/11 Memorial a couple months ago and it was a very moving experience.

    We’re Still Standing

~ Hannah Schoechert, 7th grade student (9-11 poem)

    Those twin towers
    Standing tall with pride,
    Fell with grieving hearts.
    Stunned, America cried.

    But we’re still standing.

    Bin Laden tried
    To crush our land,
    But we stood our ground
    With our flag in hand.

    And we’re still standing.

    Red for valor
    And the blood that fell.
    White for purity
    Our heroes tell.
    Blue for the justice
    That will be done,
    Proving once more
    These colors don’t run.

    And we’re still standing.
