I'm not a stingy person, and I'm very happy to share my things for the most part, but I absolutely hate sharing food that isn't pre-cut or easily figured out. Why? Because later on, it's really irritating trying to figure out how much I ate and how much they ate.

For example, if one piece of meat is 200 calories, and I give them half of it, then it's 100 calories. Simple. Most people aren't just going to keep reaching over for little bites of your meat instead of asking for a bit. However, sharing a bag of chips or a container of fries is impossible, especially if you haven't divvied them out and you're just reaching for it whenever you're done chewing or talking. Then I have to be all "Okay, so, if I ate it down to here and he ate it down to here, then we both nibbled down to here before I ate the remaining bit, what percentage of the whole thing is that?"

I did that today, and finally got fed up and decided to put that I ate almost the whole bag. If I overestimated, oh well. I take comfort in knowing that I didn't eat almost the whole bag, so I still have some calories left afterwards, but I'm far too lazy to get specific with this. Screw it.

Who is reaching over for little pieces of your meat so often that this is an issue?

Just do your best to estimate. Calorie counting is not 100% accurate in the first place, so just log what you can and move on. No use in stressing/getting worked up over something so insignificant.

when this happens, I estimate -- but I be sure to try to overestimate, if I can't be accurate
