Another 14 days of no kitchen whilst a new one gets fitted. They keep turning of the electric + water for long periods of time so most of the frozen and fridge food has gone to pot! No cooker available to use, but I do have the loving good old microwave.

We're 4 days in and I'm eating so many crisps (my biggest problem, I LOVE crisps, so it's never just one), bananas, apples, toast, sandwiches and ready meals that I can see my belly expanding before my eyes.

With so many workmen here aswell it's impossible to get a workout in, so i've been going for walks as & when possible, not the best but it's something.

I'm sure theres better food I can be eating, so what do you recommened? I'm on a VERY strict budget and can't afford to keep going to the shop!

Canned beans heat up in the microwave really well, and so do veggies. you can put veggies in a deep bowl with just a little bit of water on the bottom and cover it, and they will steam. Even if you don't have the fridge, some vegetables are stable at room temperature for several days.

You can cook sweet potatoes in the microwave same as a normal potato. Try that with beans or tinned tuna on top. Can you also maybe get the innocent food pots? They're a lot better than ready meals. Also do you have a cool box? It won't keep everything but you could use it to keep a few fridge foods, like maybe some veg that you can steam in the microwave and salad etc.

I don't have a cool box unfortunatly. I'm pretty minimal with my kitchen stuff. I hate sweet potato, but tuna is good! And soup, didn't think of that one

Porridge - cheap, filling and good for you. You can make a bowl with water (so no need for fridge-kept milk), which I find just as satisfying as the starch in the oats still makes it creamy. I love it, but I know that some might find it a bit boring*....up to you.

*Edit - just thought that you can jazz it up a bit with other "dry foods" - e.g. nuts, dried fruit like apricots, cinnamon or high fruit jam.
