grocery budget changes & household lifestyle changes

Family of 4 here, me and the hubs with 9y/o girl, 10 y/o boy. We live on a budget like most everyone. We both work full time and I think I have a pretty good handle on us eating most of our meals at home already and we all pack 4 out of 5 days to work/school. While this is a journey for me to lose some excess my husband has hopped aboard also and we are going to the gym together. We are making this a family lifestyle change. Our kids are slender, healthy, etc but like to snack. What have you done to make it a household lifestyle change and what changes has it made on your grocery budget? fresh Produce and ground turkey, etc is so expensive!

Fresh produce is expensive - but shop what's in season, and it will generally be cheaper. Also I tend to get better deals at farmers markets. If you can buy meat in bulk and freeze it that is most economical. One of our local grocery stores (the IGA) does a 10 lb meat sale around the first of the month, so we always try to do that.
