When do they call you back?

So, I started looking for a job around August 2, when the summer semesters ended at my university. (I'm taking the fall semester off) I've had 4 interviews and only the last one I actually felt confident about, it took place on Friday. The lady who interviewed me said, "Well, we're looking for people with positive attitudes, and you've shown me you have just that." So, leaving the interview I felt great. She said that I would know something by Monday or Tuesday because the start date for the new employees is September 18th.
I am freaking out, because it's Tuesday and I haven't heard from them. I know it could be something as stupid like they're just busy and can't call yet or they are calling names on a list, and mine is just further down the list alphabetically. But I can't seem to calm myself down.
Whenever any of you have had a great interview, and they've called you back-what time of day was it? Early morning? Late afternoon? I know it will vary based on different jobs. This job is a store associate position, FYI. I'm trying to calm down and stop staring at my phone but it's hard not to after feeling so confident about getting it.

I usually contact them, and don't wait for a call. I'll contact with an email or call thanking them for the interview and ask how the search is going.0

... why are you freaking out? They said by Monday or Tuesday.. it's Tuesday morning where I am, so what's the problem?0 -

I wouldn't do that if they gave you a date they would call by and that date has not yet passed.0 -
@DaniD: Because the last interviews I've had have gone horribly and this is the only one that actually may land me a job. I'm trying to get one before my daughter's birthday which is in a month. This is my only prospect that has gone well so far.
Edit: Meant to say I was responding to Dani0 -
Call them.
Remember, this job is way more important to you than it is to them. Between when you interviewed, and now, the start date could have changed. Maybe it is filled. Maybe the company is out of business... call them.
All you have to say is that you had an interview at the beginning of August and are following up because you hadn't heard anything.
For what it's worth - I interviewed for a position and had 3 separate interviews and it came down to me an another candidate. Then weeks passed without hearing anything, so I called to find out that they changed directions and didn't hire for that position at all.0 -

I missed the part where they said they would call today.
But I have never known anyone to lose a job because they were following up, so a call shouldn't hurt.0 -

Right, but if they said they would call by Monday or Tuesday and it's still Tuesday, there really isn't an issue. If they don't call by the end of today, which they said they would, call them tomorrow.0 -

I'm trying hard not to freak out, as I said, it could be something stupid like they just haven't had time to make the call. But I've got my hopes up and it's got me on the edge of my seat. Lol.0 -

I disagree, just follow up with a phone call or e-mail. I prefer e-mail. You don't even need to ask about the results of the interview. A simple thank you, enthusiastic, postivie, and energetic.0 -
I probably phrased it weird. Lol.0

I got all my jobs by being persistant and enthusiastic. Call them.0
