CrossFit Gyms

I'm looking into a CrossFit Gym membership after my running group comes to an end in November. I noticed, you can either go weekly, 2x a week or have a monthly unlimited membership. They have at least three classes available a day at the gym (it's a small close knit gym).

Can anyone give me an idea of what it's usually like? I'm excited to give it a whirl in prep for a tough mudder down the road.

I'd go in for one of their free workouts if they have them.
If not the manager should let you at least watch a class while deciding.

Then go from there. I'd reccommend 2-3x per week at most when getting started.

Be prepared to shell out some serious money though. Crossfit isn't cheap

    OK i'll answer this too...

    Some deciding factors are:
does the coach actually know what he/she is doing
    will he/she allow bad form
how often do people get hurt there at the gym

If everything looks fafe I'd reccommend 2-3x per week at most when getting started.

^^This was the only real drawback to Crossfit that I found. I loved it, but couldn't keep shelling out the cash for it. I went 2x a week for three months before cutting it from my budget. Our box also had free days to try it out/bring a friend for free. The first intro class to check it out was also free.

At almost $200/mo, I can't afford it right now. But, if you can, right on.

I agree with the posts above, take a test drive before commiting to a contract.

I did crossfit for a year and love it!, unfortunately It is not in my budget currently but I think it is worth every single penny. I am a runner as well and I think it is a great complementary workout for runners. My race times actually improved after a few months of Crossfit. I would do 2x or 3X per week.
