Friend says I am crazy counting calories only

Okay so my friend tells me that I am crazy to just count calories, she says you need to make healthy choices as well and that's what Weight Watchers (WW) does. I am an very healthy eater and feel that MFP will work great for me, hey I just turned 48 years old and stuff is sticking now. Any advise?

For me, I have found that exercise with counting calories it what works. For some counting is enough. If you don't feel like you are getting the results you want perhaps adding in some exercise will help. When I get stuck in a rut that is when I know that I had better start making healthier choices in my food, otherwise I maintain.

counting calories is the base part of MFP, but you will find that by making healthier choices, youll be able to fuel your workout, be able to eat more food, not feel as hungry and not be addicted to junk food.

If you're already a healthy eater. You're already making healthy choices. So there is no problem.
If it's 'just' losing weight you want anyone can eat all crap if they're at or under their daily calorie requirement.
But... They won't be healthy, they'll be cranky, won't have energy, won't be sleeping properly, their skin and hair
will suffer, metabolism. whatever. Sure they'll lose weight. But they'll die trying.

WW didn;t appeal to me, though i gave it a good try. I like counting calories because its simple. And with this app I can at the same time easily track other nutrients that I may be interested in, sodium in particular.

And calories in / calories out works. i have 15 pounds that I got rid of to prove it.
