What exactly qualifies as sedentary for the settings? I have a desk job during the week, but fairly active till bedtime, would that be considered sedentary?? I exercise 3-5 days week as well...

Then you're not sedentary. Sedentary is when you have perform very little exercise the whole day, and you're pretty much sitting at one spot for long hours(like a desk job, or if you're at home but don't do much housework), driving home(not walking some stretches). Exercise of 3-5 hours a week with a desk job counts more as light activity, ie the next level.

    Thank u, that's what I thought.
  • No, you log your exercise and most of your other activities so I dont think you should change it.

Lol, I work 9-430 and sit my *kitten* at my desk chair 80% of my work day...but after work, I clean, cook, exercise and dont call it a night till late. So I input it as lightly active...

Sedentary is what I used to be before MFP. Not only do you sit all day at work, but then you go home and sit all night until bedtime. If you are moving around for more than just cooking dinner and doing the dishes, then you are not sedentary.

on the flip side of this.. if you're logging all of your 'activity' and are sedentary otherwise.... then use Sedentary.
Otherwise you're counting it twice.. once in the base number, then AGAIN in the activity.

I watch people do this all the time, and then they wonder why they dont lose when they're going 'by the numbers'
