Hello everyone. This will be our new site so that we can coordinate workouts and check in with the workouts we are doing on our own. I guess most of the people on this will be from the Wayne lab but there are a couple of other people who might join.

It would be nice if you gave a little intro about yourself and what your goal is for the Tri

    Hi I am Ben

I have been up and down with my weight over the last 10 years. I got as high as 242. I did a good job and got to 195. over the recent 6 months I started to creep back up to 224. Currently 216

Ove the last 2 years I completed 2 sprint Tris and did OK. I was interested in doing one for many years and just never got into the training mode. I want to get back into it and beat my old times.

    Goals
Compete in multiple sprint tris this year and drop 10 percent off of last years time.
Try and do one Oly Tri and one Half Ironman

Climb Mt. Rainier at the end of June.

    Good diet and workout today

Abs, upperbody weights and 1 hour on the elliptical. 948 calories burned.

I will shoot for 1.5 hours of straight cardio on Wednesday. I was thinking of 30 elliptical, 30 bike and 30 run. That will come close to the exercise of the tri. (I know the elliptical is not swimming but it does have upperbody workout and it will be for 30 minutes which is almost 3 times the time for the swim. It is hard to simulate the oxygen debt of swimming.)

Over the last couple of weeks it has taken me some time to get back to doing 1 hour straight of cardio. I got it now. I have done my last 5 workouts at 1 hour straight.

I will try and do 1 hour on the stepmill with a 20 pound pack on Thursday. That would be great!!!. I did 1 hour on the stepmill at level 8 the otherday and it felt great.

Word of advice. watch tv or use a portible dvd player and watch a show. It takes away some of the boredom of the long workouts. Long workouts in the gym are different then outside.

    Lets kick some butt.

    Hi:

My name is mike and Ben is my brother-in-law. This will be my first sprint tri that i've ever competed in. I feel really determined though. I'm almost at the ideal 175lb and my body fat continues to steadily drop. I really recommend the idea of p90x of confusing your body with different forms of cardio in the gym. I swap from treadmill, stair master, swimming laps, row machine, bike, and eliptical. Normally I do 2-3 a day in random orders so never is there a day in the week I do the same routine. Best of luck to everyone

Good Start to the New Year.

I did 1.5 hours of cardio and burned around 1200 caolories. I am still trying to lose weight so I will try and monitor calories burned and calories consumed. I will try to get to 185 lbs and then when race season starts try and get to 175 as a race weight.

    I ate well today.

I am so excited. My gym just got a Concept 2 rower. This will be great for my upperbody cardio. It is not perfect for a mimic for the swim but it is the best I have for now. Still have to find a pool. I think I will try the Royal Middle school and see how that works.

I am going to start using my heart rate monitor to see how hard I am training. I had to get some batteries.

I am waiting for everyone else to start posting and working out.

I think I will do the rower for 30 minutes, bike for 30 minutes and then run for 30 minutes. We will se how that goes since I have not run much and have not used the rower or swam in years.

I will see what my weight is on Monday morning. I think I ate well in Hong Kong and I hope I lost a pound or two with all the walking.

    Good luck

I've signed up to do a sprint tri in April. I've been running since June, and I added cycling and swimming about three weeks ago after a friend convinced me to do the sprint tri. Thankfully we have full access to a gym and pool, so we have no excuse for not getting workouts in. I even got one of those contraptions to use on my husband's bike so I can use it as a stationary bike if I don't feel like going over to the gym. We have the bike and a treadmill set up in the garage. Unfortunately, it's a bit cold out there right now since our temps have dipped into the minus digits the last couple of days, so I took today off. Tomorrow I will start with a training program I found online. I also want to really watch what I eat. I'm usually pretty good about it, but I figure this is an opportunity to try to eat very clean and see what happens.

That is awesome. It feels great to fiinish a Tri. There is a great book called the Triathlon Bible written by Joe Friel. It comes highly recomended by many athletes. The indoor cycle trainer is great becuase it keeps your body used to the feel of your bike. Your butt needs weeks to get used to the saddle. I live in Michigan to weather is an issue for use. Keep it up!!!!

I was very suprised today to see that I weigh 211. That is great. I am getting closer to my goal.

I did p90x Chest and Back and burned 600 calories today. Very good with diet and had a long hard day at work.

You're not kidding my behind needs to get used to being in the saddle. Dang! I biked two days in a row and my buns were not happy with me. Thanks for the heads-up on the book. I've been looking at some and trying to decide which one to invest in. I'll look into the Triathlon Bible. Sounds good.

Today, after being off for two days due to a nasty chest cold, I'm easing back in with the P90X stretching. My body could use a good limbering up. With the snow headed our way tonight and tomorrow, I'm planning to hit the treadmill in the garage and do some P90X strength work.

    Happy workouts.
