Hi I am new here, I am on Day 3. Reading some of these forums is making me think that the 1200 cal a day MFP has set for me may be too low. I am 5'6" and weight 155. I am 36 years old. Thoughts anyone?

Hello
You'll find a lot of disagreement as to whether 1200 cal. a day is too low or not. My personal opinion: Yes, it is.
I found these three posts to be very informative. Have a look at them and see if they help you all.

I Find it's plenty enough for me but everyone is different . This is a very controversial topic on mfp. But in the end you just need to work out what works best for you0

It is too low for anyone - body could go into starvation mode, which means you won't lose weight.
Ideal for women is 1500 and men 2000 if you want to lose weight and be healthy - getting all the right food groups and nutrition.
Should lose around 0.5kilo (1lb) per weekd - slower, but much better for the body and better once goal weight is achieved as you are more likely to keep it off if you don't overeat.0 -
Its too low for a lot of people but not for everyone.0

It is plenty enough for me! But I also work out, get calories back and then eat more for dinner. I would never fret about going over the 1200 calories though. As long as you don't go over board. You can manually change your calorie goals if you want to as well.0
