PCOS Help!!!!

Well I need help. I have PCOS and have lost 40lbs so far. I am now 193lbs. But I have been stuck there for the past month. Even though I try to keep my carb intake at less then 70. I workout at least 3 times a week. I eat no sugar whatsoever except for 2 fruits a day. I'm 5'8 and I'd love to be at 170lbs but I can't get out of the 190's.
So my questions are. Those of you who have PCOS how did you lose the weight naturally without any medication? Did you lose with chromium or cinnamon capsules to help you lose weight? Were you successful with those supplements and if yes how much did they help you lose?
I'm getting really frustrated and really don't know where to go from here.

I take no supplements (not sure if thats good or not, just sharing). I have actually cut down fruit to 1-2 a week. The exercise seems to be key for me. Ive managed to lose a total of 100ish pounds, but its taken me almost 2 years to lose the last 50. Ive got 30 more to go. Its a slower process for us I think but steady for sure. Good luck to you. Unfortunately, supplements aren't going to make much of a difference, they just help your insides to get healthy, haven't heard of any that really help with weight loss. I take the normal vitamins and i do take some herbalife supplements.
Honestly, you just need to be patient, that is just how is goes when you have PCOS. I was losing very steadily and I have been at a standstill for 6 weeks. I really sucks and gets really frustrating because I have no idea why my body is holding on or if all the sudden i am doing something wrong. But alas, it does and all you can do is keep pushing forward and eventually it will work itself out. I just upped my calories, trying the BMR/TDEE approach, while still staying on the lower carb end, hoping this will help.
Hang in there, PCOS messes with our hormones, and your hormones are what help make your body function! I always say, wouldn't it be wonderful if just your hard work and determination were enough? lol not for us PCOSers!

I am on metformin...(1000mg/day)..and have lost all my weight. I am now a healthy size 6/8...Its all about knowing what to eat. What works for me is low carbing..and doing whole foods..rather than processed. I also run 3 hrs a week and weight lift 2-2.5 hrs a week.

I too have PCOS and what I found to help me get off a plateau is;
- green tea or decaf green tea really helped kick start my metabolism
- upping work outs; i used to do 25 minutes a day, I doubled it and it worked
- I fill up on small meals/snacks of houmous & carrot sticks, banana & peanut butter and handfuls of cereal instead of 3 really large meals

I have PCOS and between may of this year and Mid July I teetered right at 265. I would go up two, go down two, and just stay right at almost 265. I WANTED TO SCREAM AND THROW MY SCALE OUT INTO THE STREET. ***Deep breathe** Phew, ok, Now that hulk has gone away... I just stuck to it. I said this is making me better inside and out and I am going to keep doing this for myself. BAM before I knew it 3 pounds was gone, then 5, and now, in the last 60 days ( so from about July 12) I have lost an additional 22 pounds and counting. My body had to just bust through a pleateau. I know that eventually I will hit one again and that is ok. I know now that sticking to it is the best thing you can do. I also upped calories for a couple weeks just to give my body a break but still ate healthy and exercised.
PS- Not on any medication

I have PCOS. No supplements here and no med.
When I stop losing, I start using my kitchen scale again because eyeballing portions is not a good way to count calories

It is the easiest thing to look at to know if you really are on a pleateau or just eating too much. If it is not the problem, a diet break might be in order0 -

I also have PCOS. And I have found it really hard for me to lose any kind of weight for the last 2-3 years. But starting this year back in March I found out I had gallstones. So for the last 6 months, I had to change my WHOLE diet (Not saying i didnt eat healthy before, but this way it changed it a lot too) my Dr's had me go fat free, only because anything with fat would cause an attack to my gallblader. So I was basically eating any kind of Chicken Brest, Fish, Veggie's, Fruit, Whole weat, Soups and sandwhiches. And in that 6 months i've lost 35lb's. But now that I have had it taken out, I have been back to square one again.
So it does get hard and everything, but just try and stick with what you are doing. If it did it before, im sure it will still help. Even try and mix it up a little, so it doesnt get to boring.

I eat one toast a day and it's from silver hills or ezekiel bread. I wonder if it has gluten, it's all sprouted grain so I'm not sure. I will read up on it.

I also have pcos.
I eat very few carbs (under 50g/day) and lots of protein.
Basically no starches, and very little fruit.

I'm on metformin for my PCOS. No other supplements though.
I find that I will hit a wall weight wise for a week, a month or even longer and then it all moves a huge amount again. Just keep working out, try and limit your carbs and keep your overall calories in a decent range. Unfortunatly with PCOS our hormones are out of control and there isn't much we can do about it.
If you really crave bread I've started buying Joseph's Lavash wraps & pitas. They are a high protein, low carb, low calorie bread. A huge wrap is only 100 calories, 4 net carbs and 6 protein (I think). So it helps you feel full, gets the bread fix in and doesn't break the carb or calorie bank. Don't know if this helps but for me it was a life saver.0 -

This. I also have pcos and am on 2,000mg of metformin a day. IR is a major symptom of pcos, even though not all pcos patients have it. I would talk to your doctor about the possiblity of going on metformin, it will help not only with regulating glucose levels, but will help regulate hormones and help you lose weight.0 -
My fiance tried Chaste Tree Berry supplements and obtained relief from some of her PCOS symptoms, although she ended up decided that they made her too hormonal (I think she's just not used to having normal female hormones and such though).0

So I am not insulin resistant. But I was put on a 30gram of carbs diet for a week, then I can go up to 50 grams for the rest of the time. She told me 30 grams will give my body the extra push it needs to start losing again. So no fruit week for me. Yeah!! how exciting. Oh well it's just a week right!!0

i'm doing the "Carb Nite Solution" where i get 30g a day for 9 days. It's all I can think of to do. Not only am I a carbaholic but i haven't lost a thing in 2 years...even though i lift and do cardio and "eat clean"...it's the carbs that are killing me. keep me posted on how your ultra-low carb goes.0
