you just need to tone

Wth does that mean?? I have lost a bunch of weight and that's what people tell me " don't lose any more, just tone" and then I come on here and people get made fun of for saying that? Well I have no fitness experience or anything so what then do they mean? What do I do to "tone" or whatever you suggest. Help!

    "Tone"="Build muscle".
    It's what people say to women when they need muscle definition. But when you tell a woman that she needs to build muscle, they think they'll turn into the incredible hulk and start running for the hills and don't stop (literally). That notion is not true. Women do not have the hormones that a man does that causes them to build muscle the way they do. I've been lifting heavy for 6 months now, and I've seen incredible results. I am not getting "bulky" like what many women think happens when you step foot in a weight room. I've actually grown to love lifting. Makes me feel bada$s when a man sits down at the leg press and actually has to lower the weight after I've been on the machine :laugh:

    Do yourself a favor and start lifting heavy things. Get your hiney in a weight room. You'll thank yourself. And since you're new, you would benefit from one or two sessions with a trainer. They can get you started in the right direction for some muscle definition.

    In a nutshell, strength training.

    The program you choose depends entirely on your own personal goals. It can be based on body weight exercises (pushups, squats, planks, lunges etc) on through to heavy lifting (and everywhere in between)

    this^^^^^ I think its kind of rude to tell you "you need to tone up" -youve come so far ...thats a personal decision on your part...if you want to look even hotter , start with bodyweight exercises...they are not easy but the lighter you are the easier they are!! people are full of unwanted advice when your losing weight, only you decide how thin you want to be...you have accomplished so much!!

    Personally, when I hear tone, I think losing the jiggle (body fat). So for me, I would eat a small caloric deficit, lift heavy and do HIIT workouts.

    First off, yes lift - but are you going to trust the people around you to tell you if you need to lose fat or build muscle. Unless they have done it, I ignore them.

    I still get some people that are the closest to me tell me I am too thin. Well, yes I am compared to them.
