Holiday eating question

Hey MFPer's! Hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas! I am not really going to any houses for meals today which is GREAT! I am actually having a normal lunch at my home, then doing some visiting. My question is since I have decided to take a rest day for today, I do not have my extra calorie allotment! Would you just eat the same as you normally would, or cut your calories down? I guess I should also mention that I burn usually over 500 calories a day, am trying to maintain my weight, and eat cleanly. Thank you in advance for any advice!

I take a rest day every sixth day, and for that day, I change my goals to maintain my weight rather than lose. I actually get more calories on my rest day, which seems kind of weird, but it works well for me!

Normally you would eat 500 less calories, but for me I found eating extra protein or a fast carb once a week helps me loose weight, it throws off the regular eating habit. Its called a boost meal. Plus its Christmas, enjoy the holiday with a treat, you worked hard for it. Merry Christmas

Thanks for the advice, I know one day eating more won't kill me, nor throw me off track..so as long as I keep it healthy it should be ok..right? I know this evening I am going to have a cookie (my bf made them and says I have to try one..lol) and I am taking his parents some wine, where I will probably be having a glass.....Any more thoughts?

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Most people worry too much about what they eat between Christmas and New Year's Day when what they should worry about it what they eat between New Year's Day and Christmas...........if you have been strict about your eating all year, nothing will be harmed by some small deviations (a glass of wine, a cookie, less exercise) on Christmas Day.

I have been stricter than strict all year and today I will relax a bit (not a ton)

Could you explain a "boost meal" and a "fast carb". I have heard the terms but don't know how or when to use them.

I have been baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. It is ok

But as for your question: It appears you are making a change in the way you live your life. Today is no different, other than you have more choices. Enjoy your wine. Have some cheese and crackers and enjoy the festivities.

    Merry Christmas!!!!

Thank you very much for the support everyone! I know this is the big picture-I want to be healthy and happy for the rest of my life, and I feel great eating cleanly! I do have treats (like this AM I added some Heath bits to my oats for x-mas:laugh: ) and yes the cookie/wine will be eaten...lol. Cheese and crackers are a good idea for snacking...I just worry waaaayyy too much when my numbers are over..I lost alot of weight within the past 11 months and want to make sure I keep it that way!
