How Can I Know How Much I'm Burning?

Just wondering if I could get some advise/info. I work as a janitor which means I spend anywhere from 3-5 hrs a day vacuuming, emptying trash, mopping, etc. I dont always have the free time to go for a run and I was wondering if there was a simple way for me to roughly calculate how much exercise I'm getting through work?

yes, you can enter "cleaning" into the database....it's in there.

But, IMHO, it's not going to help you to track things you normally do. 1) MFP takes that into consideration when you set your goals and 2)you've been doing that all along and you are where you are. IF you want to change it, you need to track DELIBERATE exercise that is different from daily activities.

When you signed up for MFP you should have marked your activity level as Active, that way what you burn off at work is already included in the equation used to calculate your calorie goal.

If you're just curious what you burn, you could estimate it by entering the amount of time you do your job under "Cleaning" and there is a light or vigorous option, choose whichever you feel is most accurate. Or, you could wear an HRM which is the most accurate of the methods.
