How long did it take to see results?

Give it more time, consistency is key. 4 lbs in 3 weeks is great!! Healthy weightloss is slow weightloss, meaning 1-2 lbs per week. I try to stay encouraged if I only lose 0.2 lbs in a week! Every little bit counts...continue doing what you are doing and you will see results! Great job so far!0

I once read somewhere that people usually start to notice weight loss when you lose around 10% of your starting body weight. I don't recall if there was any sort of science behind that, but it was very true for me - at 10% loss EVERYONE started telling me they could see a difference.0

It took me about a month and a half to notice any results. Hang in there its worth it. :-)0

I started working out again 4 weeks ago. I do 50 to 120 minutes of turbo fire and/or p90x daily. I have gained 6 pounds. I dont eat more than 1200 calories a day. I am discouraged too!0

You are definitely not eating enough for the amount of physical activity you are logging. Figure out your TDEE and go from there. Eat more and after a few weeks, you will almost definitely see a loss.0 -
A great friend once told me.... it's not the number on the scale, it's how you FEEL and how you LOOK at the end of the day. Your body shape will change, you will feel so much better, and people will notice it in your face and in your attitude as well. The scale measures not only weight, but muscle mass and many other factors too, so don't let that sway your success! Keep on going until you FEEL it. And then you will see it. GOOD WORK!0

I've been at this since February, and going really s-l-o-w-l-y. I've lost 24 pounds since February 2, and I've started to take measurements, which I wish I had done at the outset because my body has changed far more than the number on the scale would lead me to believe. It was only after I lost 20 pounds did anyone mention the fact that I was losing weight.
Here's my thought on the whole process - I've lost 20 pounds in 3 months before, but put that weight back on (plus more). This time, I'm more than 8 months in and I'm *still* trending down and really adopting healthy habits. That's the most important thing.
If the scale doesn't seem to budge, look at other metrics - hip / waist measurements or even the fact that your jeans that used to be tight tight tight are now a little looser. Good luck and keep on keeping on. It really does work.0 -
I started 3 weeks ago and I am down 14 lbs. I watch my calorie intake and go to the gym 3 times a week sometimes 4 for 60 min of cardio. I didn't take measurements but I can tell when I wear my jeans. Good luck0

Its normal. You don't want to lose too much too fast. About a pound a week is good. How are your clothes fitting? I wouldn't worry too much about the scale and just focus on how you feel. Keep up the great work! PS I've been working out consistently for awhile now (6 months or more) but only just begun watching my food intake and noticing a difference on the scale. What a difference! Good luck to you!0

For me, when I look in the mirror I don't see a change, its when I see the numbers on the scale drop and some clothes that I couldnt fit into or other others are fitting better. It took about a month for me to see some real results, but again, the number on the scale isn't just it. i would say Don't weigh yourself everyday...maybe 1 or twice a week beucase weight can flunctuate so much from day to day. And I was told by a trainer to take measurements every 2-4 weeks and as long as you see a drop, you're going in the right direction! Good luck and keep on track.!!!0

I would say about 2-3 months to see a dramatic difference in how you look and feel if you keep focused and stick with it.
I've lost 20 lbs in 8 weeks so far BF from 25 to 17% and BMI from 26 to 23 so far!
The biggest change however iv found is a state of mind and lifestyle. Learning to cook healthily and to eat in moderation!
20 pounds in 8 weeks?! That's a lot!
To the OP - I've been on MFP for about 2 months now, and I've only lost like 3 pounds. I see no noticeable difference in my body, or the way that any of my clothes fit. I have been working out over the last month, roughly 4X per week (I switch it up between 30 day shred, c25k, a body sculpt fitness class, or walking). I was consuming 1540 (max) calories per day, but have lowered it to just 1380 (max) since a friend recommended that could be why I wasn't losing weight.
So in short, I feel your pain, and understand it well. But I have to remember, 6 months ago I couldn't walk because of having parts of my knee surgically reconstructed, so the fact that I can run and jump is pretty amazing.0 -
I was exactly the same at week 3 - I seemed to plateau for a week or so then suddenly it started to shift again without me changing what I was doing. By week 5 I had lost 10lbs and that's when I noticed clothes feeling looser. I've lost 12lbs now and other people are starting to comment. I'm about to hit a pre-menstrual week again which last time coincided with the plateau so we'll see what happens. The important thing is the overall trend being a DECREASE in the scales. I'm already heading towards a healthy BMI but now that I've started I feel like I can just carry on - I've reduced my goal weight twice already!!!
Good luck and keep going!0 -
It took me about 2 months 3 wks for 36 lbs0
-
I lost 10.4 lb and 10 inches in 5 weeks and my mom just told me yesterday that my face looks thinner. You'll get there.0
-
i read somewhere (and consistent with my own experience) it takes 4 weeks for you to see a change in your own body, 8 weeks for your close friends and family, and 12 weeks for everyone else.
keep pushing on!0 -
So far I have lost one pound and put on two and lost oned - so I'm back where I started! But I can see a difference in my body shape, so today I took measurements and I think I will put the scales away! This time I'm concentrating on fitness and muscle tone - keep at it as you are doing the right thing and if you give up it certainly won't help you lose weight.0

I have been using myfitnesspal.com for 3 months now. When I started, I weighed 349 pounds. Tonight my scale says I weigh 310 pounds. I go by the way my clothes fit. When I started, I was wearing size 48 shorts and now my size 44 shorts are getting to big. I am almost ready to move into size 42 shorts. Whatever you do, don't give up.0

I joined MFP 2 weeks ago and since then I actually gained a bit of weight but seem to be hovering somewhere around 51-52 kg mark (112-114 lbs), but I upped my training as well from cardio x2/week to cardio x2/week + resistance x4/week0
-
i think that was the key factor. you have to track everything you eat.0
-
It was a couple months before I really started seeing a difference.0
-
It's been about a month since I've been consistently tracking. I haven't noticed any significant results in the mirror yet. The scale is going down and my clothes are looser, but my face/body seems the same to me.
But...yesterday was the first day other people started seeing my results. Multiple people came up to me at work and while I was out last night asking me if I lost weight and telling me I looked thinner. Up until now nobody has noticed. So hang in there, somebody will notice soon!0
