Polar F6 - reset base info?

Does anyone know how to re-set one's resting and active heart rates? I remember doing it when I first got the watch but want to re-do it (e.g. take the fitness tests on it again) because I've come so far since then.

I know there was a setting where you can take the watch's version of the fitness tests (recall sitting down and standing up for a certain amount of time, or whatever it was), but I can't access that function again, for some reason.

Or is there a trick to it that I need to know?

yeah, from the time of day display (the default display when you aren't recording anything)

press ok once, then hit the up or down button (right top or right bottom) until you hit settings and press ok.

again hit the up or down button until you get to the HR Set setting and press ok.

adjust your HR accordingly and press ok to exit.

By the way, it's all in the manual on page 20 and 21, here is the pdf for it (sorry for the length of the url, copy the whole thing as one line and past it into your browser line to get the manual):

I have an F7 which cames with a user guide with F6 printed on it so lets give it a try

Click the main button. Scroll down to Settings, and again down to User.

That's where you can set your weight, height, birtthday, sex, HR max, HR sit and V02 Max. These are all manuela settings, so you must know them before hand.

Default HR max is 220-age but you can override the default.

For your HR sit, just sit down and relax for a few minutes while wearing your strap and see what it says.

V02 Max is a lot more complicated to figure out and unless you have changed it, the default values chould be ok given your age and so on.

    Hope it helps !

Yes, thanks, that does help. But another question: When I got the watch, there was a setting where you could do a few exercises and it would set your HR. That's the part I can't seem to access anymore. Any idea for that?

it's all in the manual, that link I sent you.

Thanks for the link. I looked at it. There's no way to go back to that "welcome screen" situation, but I think I can get around it by just using the regular workout heart rate setting. I'll have to manually adjust the resting rate, as someone suggested, then do the initial exercises suggested in the manual to get the upper level (I think that's what it said) and manually input that info.

When the battery dies on this F6, I plan to get the F11. Not sure when that will be, of course! LOL!

there might be a way, but I doubt it's something they advertise. Have you tried calling them and asking them to help you reset it to the factory defaults?

Hold one.... checking to see if there are any instructions to do this on the web....

I emailed polar, I'll know in a day or so whether you can reset it. I'll let you know what they say.

Is it possible you're talking about "Ownzone" ?

That's a feature you access once you start the HRM for an exercise session.

The first few minutes the HRM is working at determining what you ideal heart rate zones are.

You have to set you HR Limits settings to Ownzone for it to be in use (as opposed to the Automatic and Manual settings). Then it displays "Ownzone >" instead of the regular workout timer. You have to walk slowly for 1 minutes, then at regular pace for 1 minute, then at a good pace for another minute, you jog for a minute and you finish by running for a minute. If the Polar can figure out your zones, it displays a smiley face and the next time you workout you can use these settings without going through the 5 minutes setup.

These zones help you get to the right intensity.

Look for Ownzone in the manual !

Thanks to both of you for this help. I'll double check the "ownzone" situation but as I recall, I couldn't get it to do anything for me, before, after I set up the initial measurements, that is.

I'll try it again today and see what happens.
