Ive been borderline under active for around 7 years now and I hate to say it but it's so hard for me to loose weight. I eat healthy I run aprox 12 miles a week. Anyone else in the same boat ? Any tips to help boost my metabolism ?

I have been on generic Synthroid for MANY years. Was on it before I tried to lose weight, and have remained on it since I lost it. Make sure you see your doctor to check the levels in your blood and see if you need to be on medication.
Yes, it may make it harder to lose weight, but it does not make it impossible. Don't use it as an excuse.

I've had hypothyroidism for around 20 years. Yes it makes it harder to lose even with medication but it can be done! I am living proof.0

Lots of activity brings up your metabolism and that's really the only way I know to bring it up.0

Im on meds for hypothyroidism and I get checked every year. I just get annoyed as the wight loss is slow. I'd say a pound every week ?!0

A pound a week is not a bad rate for loss, and actually pretty good considering being hypothyroid.
Try to eat as naturally as possible and stay away from highly processed and/or highly refined foods. My endocrinologist suggested fresh fruits and vegetables and protein, and very little bread, rice, pasta, etc. along with working out 4-5 days a week. And when he said working out, he meant at a good clip, breaking a sweat and really using my body.
Good luck with it. It CAN be done.0 -
I've been on meds for 6 years for Hypothyroidism. I get my blood work done every 6 months and the last year or so we have increased the dosage based on how I feel, not what the blood test says. There is a range that your levels need to be and different doctors have different ranges. I had to find one that would work with me and not my numbers and it helped. I'm now up to 125 mcg of Levothyroxine and I feel better. I no longer feel like I want to sleep my life away. Too high of a dosage is not beneficial either. It won't speed up your metabolism and make pounds fall off. It made me not able to sleep and feel jittery and anxious all the time.
Losing weight is hard. You have to work twice as hard as the average person and you can't fall off the wagon. Exercise daily and weight train... build that muscle. Eat whole foods and stay away from all the pre-packaged stuff full of preservatives.
It can be done. I'm a month into my progress and it gets frustrating because it shouldn't be this hard. But it is what it is and all I can do is work hard to change it. It will get better.0
