Beginners Gym programme

Hi guys............wonder if anyone can help me out with a suggested gym programme. I'm not fit at all but want to get fitter. At the moment I walk my dog but other than that don't do anything. I've just joined the local gym but I'm not sure how to start and certainly can't afford a personal trainer. Any suggestions??

  • www.bodybuilding.com has lots of excellent options. You click on the find a plan button and it will have you select your gender, age, and goal (fat loss or muscle building). I can recommend Jamie Eason's Live Fit and the Bizzy diet :)

agree with all of this. Starting strength (book) and stronglifts 5x5 (on a website)... or new rules of lifting for women (also a book)

bodybuilding.com has a lot of programs as well...
  • If your gym is any good at all, they should be going through an appropriate program with you. Check with one of the staff there. I hope they are able to help you - whilst I could say "do this, this and this", unless you are shown correct technique, the risk of injury, and possible lack of results would not make it worth your while. You are going to put in the hard work - you should get something out of it. Good luck. Enjoy your gym. Work Hard. Feel Great!
