I get a terrible itchy rash on my legs when I try to run. Does anyone else experience this?

That depends, where is it at? I used to get irritation between my things because they were too fat and rubbed together. If that's what you're talking about, they sell this stuff that looks like deoderant that you can use.....I use it anywhere from my legs to my feet....anywhere that can create friction. I can't remember the name right now, but any running store or sporting goods store will have it.

If it's in a place where there is no friction, perhaps what you're wearing is irritating your skin, or there is something else wrong that perhaps someone else would have a better explanation.

If the rash is on the inner thigh, you can wear biking shorts (spandex) under your workout shorts to help reduce friction. You can use special creams or just regular ole deodorant will work too. Some people use baby powder -- I have no idea how well that works. Another option, for after the fact to help 'heal' that rash, is to use diaper rash cream. Yes, it is for baby's bottoms, but the use of the cream is the same -- to help ease the pain and heal up a rash caused by friction and wetness.

Monistat makes something similar if its the thigh issue, its specifically for ''thigh chaffing'' :embarassed: I used to use it on vacation when I knew we'd be doing a lot of walking in the heat. Now my thighs don't touch  such a stupid thing to be thrilled about but its SO amazing to walk w/o the rubbing.

I thought I was allergic to cardio but I'm not sure thats possible.
It developes all over my thighs and rear. It feels almost like it is caused by the impact because I don't get it when I walk or do other machines such as the stairs or the elliptical. I really had hoped to improve my endurance through running. I even downloaded an app on my iphone to help. I was only able to make it half way through the first level before the itch overwhelmed me. I went running off to the bathroom to take off my pants. It is more red and blotchy than a raised rash, almost like someone smacked me.

What fabric are your pants made of? And what laundry detergent do you use?

Spandex and Tide. I wore tight pants yesterday in hopes that it would reduce friction and "the giggle".

I'd switch to a detergent without dyes/fragrance. Also you might try some shorter leggings or breathable bike shorts. I get a similar rash on the back of my neck regardless of the fabric if it gets too hot. I find that hair products and lotion with fragrances make it a lot worse. It's also splotchy and red and itchy/burny. I'm pretty sure it's eczema. It's not from the running but from the heat and sweat.

Does it go away when you stop working out?

It becomes less noticeable. If I go a day without working out or wearing any hair products or getting sweaty, it will go away. I have to use non-fragrance oatmeal lotion on it too.

or you could not wear spandex when running and wear regular running shorts.

I will try that. I have avoided wearing shorts because my upper thighs are a problem area that I don't like to show off. I am thin everywhere except my thighs and butt. I blame my mother.
