Ok so I have lost 20 lbs to date but my goal is to have lost 30. Well when I had lost around 10 lbs or so I started seeing in the forums all these posts about the last 10 lbs not wanting to come off. For some it was a struggle because of a plateau some for other reasons. But I think for me I see my problem!
Unfortunately I have hit that spot where I am ok with my weight and how I look although I am not quite happy. Make sense? Maybe?
So since I am OK with where I am at my motivation seems to be slipping to go ahead and bust out the last 10 lbs. I keep trying to defeat day 1 of c25k and between several complications of getting on track post surgery I'm feeling so defeated and worthless that doesn't help get me motivated! So even though I keep telling myself not to give up and I keep trying c25k (which I seem to be getting worse at) my motivation is still slipping. So I am nearly forcing myself to keep on like a drill sargeant.
Ugh!! CURSE YOU LAST 10 LBS!! CURSE YOU!!!
But have no fear last 10 lbs! I will defeat you some how some way! It may take me 6 more months but I WILL defeat you. (I hope you are listening day 1 of c25k because this is for you too!!)

For sure! I call it "The Good Enoughs". But, there's also the fact that the closer you are to goal weight, the harder those pounds are to lose. So, your return on investment starts taking a nose dive.
I call those the "Dog Pounds" because it takes the same amount of effort to lose one pound as it did to lose seven (when you were heavier).
There's lots of advice on here from previous forums on how to stay motivated. I think the key thing to remember here is that this is the same motivation you need to maintain. It's basically deciding at what weight you are comfortable and healthy and happy and then doing what you need to do to stay there.
IMHO maintenance is not about staying the same weight. It's about losing that same 10/5/8/4/whatever pounds that you put on when life gets hard or you lose focus. So, knowing how to lose 10 pounds is almost the same thing as knowing how to maintain.
Does that make sense? Anyway, I hear ya!0 -
This is exactly where I was about 18 months ago. I couldn't seem to shed that last 10 until I joined this site and logged in faithfully every day!
It's perfectly legit to decide you can stop trying to lose, just don't stop doing what got you this far. I sympathize on your exercise regime. My own injuries have kept me from accomplishing what I want on that front. I think that should do what we "can" do and not beat ourselves up about the rest.
Awesome job losing 20. You've got a lot to be proud of!0 -
I have actually been terrible at logging lately but I have still been weighing and I am at least maintaining. So by that I feel that hopefully maintaining will be a smidgen easier than gettin this last 10 lbs off. But it does definitely suck to start losing motivation when your body wants to defeat you! LOL0
