I know it sounds pretty basic, but I just think about how far I have come and how hard it was just to get that initial 5kg off. I remind myself how quick and easy it would be to put it all back on, and then I would be back to square one!
And if I do fall off the wagon, I make sure I don't dwell on it, and get straight back on!

  • Mainly just knowing the routine and habits i have now are much better than i ever had before. The desire for a can of coke or cheese sandwich is zero now, because i know i'd rather spend my calories somewhere else.

    Oh, and sparkling water. :)

I also look at what i have achieved so far and all the work i have put in to it to get there. Then i ask myself if it is worth giving up and going back to the unhappy me.
If i am really hungry and i still have enough calories left for the day, then i will not punish myself and starve. I will have a provita or two or anything low in calories. I normally eat 5 meals a day.
By the evening i am the hungriest but i do my 1 hour of exercise 1st and when im done, the hunger has faded. Then i will just have my Evox Lean Pro as a meal replacement and my body is happy and satisfied.
Drink a lot of water ... it also helps your tummy feel full for longer.
  • Knowing how long I'd have to sweat for, to burn off every calorie of crap food I consume. Being acountable to my diet dude who sees everything I eat on here is also worth it's weight in fat!!!
  • I just think back to everytime someone compliments me or says nice things or when I am in shops shopping and I am able to get things in smaller sizes and I think of how hard it use to be to dress my age...

That and I have started eating sugar free fruit drops... Whenever I get a craving I eat one.. it normally lingers it till I am due to eat again.. haha but thats just my little trick

    Several things help me --

Oatmeal -- (Regular, not instant) the perfect morning food. Low in fat, and gives slow-burning fuel throughout the day. Add some raisins and a teaspoon of honey, and it's awesome.

Fresh fruit -- red delicious apples, honeydew melon, bananas are perfect. Takes the "sugar craving" edge off. Yes, they make your sugar numbers go up, but at least they're "natural" sugars and not processed/refined.

DRINK WATER!!!! But you can eat your water, too....cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, any vegetables that are known to be juicy are excellent food sources that will help you get enough water throughout the day. MIO drink mix is low-calorie and helps with the sugar cravings (it helped me kick my soda addiction).

Lean meats -- but specifically how it's prepared. Look for the words "Baked" "Broiled" or "Grilled" and you're g2g. "Fried" is a NO-NO!!!

No dry carbs after 3pm (i.e., breads, pasta, potatoes, etc). It's probably not "scientifically proven," but it's helped me a lot.

....and of course, I'll allow myself one day per week to have pizza and ice cream. Never swear off your "problem foods" because if you go cold-turkey, you're more likely to fall off the wagon.
  • I agree with Merc.. I don't ever say no...
I have my days where I can eat something bad then I kick my butt with a workout.. It's worth it I reckon but its better then denying myself completely of things.
  • Watermelon! Sweet and hydrating only 140 calories per pound.

I agree with cheating once a week. If you don't make your body used to getting some junk food here and there then when you have finally lost all your weight and achieved your goals and start eating junk food occasionally again then you will just start gaining weight again. I have decided to keep my ways of eating even after achieving my goals with the occasional cheat. This way i know i will stay healthy and maintain my goal.
  • TREAT. YO. SELF.

I have a soft spot for Portuguese custard tarts... OMFG facemelt. I get one once or twice a week, first thing in the morning and eat it on my way to work. I factor the calories into my day when I get to my desk, and I never EVER feel guilty about enjoying something that I love. Satisfy your craving, and plan around it. It won't break your calorie budget, and it will totally satisfy your psyche.
