I'm such a hypocrite - LOL!

Twice today I've recommended to people getting ready to run a first race tomorrow something along the lines of "no new shoes, clothing, food, drink. Race day should be as familar as possible".

I just pulled together my clothes for my 5k tomorrow. Behind on laundry, all my socks are dirty. So faced with the prospect of racing in dirty socks, I instead grabbed a still-in-the-package pair I bought yesterday and put in the bag. A totally new brand I"ve never worn before. :noway:

I justified it saying I'll only run about 5 miles tomorrow (including warm-up and cool-down). If I come in here post-race whimpering about blisters or bunching or something else, you may all mock me mercilessly. :ohwell:
