Heart Rate Monitors?

I'm really interested in buying a heart rate monitor, but I don't know which one to buy. I want to use it to track my calories, and i'd prefer for it to be waterproof, but I know that's more expensive so it's not a must. I'm looking for anything under $100
Any suggestions?

Why waterproof you gonna use it to swim? Mine is just water resistance so if it gets wet while im running outside in the rain or just sweat it will be fine. I use a garmin forerunner 310 but thats more than what you are asking about.

Mine is not really well-known..but it is from the Proform with the chest strap 300 series I think....Im too lazy to get up and look...and at first it was annoying as the instructions SUCK BUTT!!!! but my bf played around with it and he was able to show me step by step how to use it...I love it, its water resistance as well, I sweat a lot and it gets wet...but its not really made fore swimming...GOOD LUCK!!

I use a Polar FT7 and I love it !!! it cost me less than 90 with shipping, I went to the Polar website
