Heart Rate & Blood Pressure Meds

I am on Tekturna and Benicar for High Blood Pressure. I read somewhere that some blood pressure meds will lower your heart rate which would also require lower exercise heart rate. I have been trying to maintain a HR of 130 while exercising mainly because that is what my Polar HRM tells me to do. Is there any reason to maintain a lower HR with the meds?

I'd suggest you talk to your doctor about what heart rate you should strive for during your exercise. I would NOT go by something the Polar HRM says is fine. It is a machine that knows NOTHING about your medical history, heart condition, or anything else that could kill you if you overdo it. Always check with your doctor before beginning an exercise program! Be careful, we don't want to lose any MFPers through exercise.0

You should probably make a quick call to your Doc just to make sure. :flowerforyou:0
