lifting ideas?

Hello!

Having read lots of posts about how important it is to be lifting some weight, I've decided that this is my next step. I'm stuck with the weightloss and so hacked off with the scales - I want to try a new approach.

My problem is that I live in the country, miles from any gyms. What can I do here, at home (apart from lifting the dog?).

Lots of things you can do with just your body weight

    Squats
    Lunges
    Calf raises
Walk the curbs..(1 foot on the curb one foot on the ground walk lift your knee)
    All kinds of Planks
    Push ups
    Tricep dips off a chair
Put dirt or sand in a plastic grocery bag do bicep curl
Use the same bag for up right rows
Use a 24 oz can goods for reverse fly
    Crunches

If you can get yourself a workout band and you will get a differant workout. They re inexpensive and don't take up any room.

    Good luck

Buy dumbbells and/or kettle bell. You can do just about any work out/lift at home with those as you would at the gym with a machine or barbell. And dumb bells really help work on your stabilizer muscles. My favorite lifts are dead lifts and squats. Though I often joke around and do clean lifts using my children as the weight lol

I can't help much as I follow the routines set in new rules of lifting for women and work out in the gym but... I know a few people doing the same routine work out at home. The exercises can be done at home and the author does cater a lot of the routines for peeps that can't get to the gym.
