The donvier machine is nice and in your price point. Although you can always use a bowl that goes in the freezer and stir with a whisk at 15-30 minute intervals. The more you stir the creamer it will be.0

The "One large ziplock baggie, one small ziplock baggie and rock salt" machine is pretty inexpensive. And you can get a good work out.
1. Put rock salt (couple cups) in large ziplock bag.
2. Put ice cream mix or what have you in small bag.
3. Put small bag in large bag.
4. Shake, throw or toss bag around for 10 minutes until mixture sets up to ice cream consistency.
Not the best method in the world, but pretty darn cheap and the end result tastes just the same.

We've done this methods successfully for years at VBS and picnics. I put ice in the big bag and sprinkled with table salt. If you add frozen berries to the small ice cream bag it goes even faster. It only takes a few minutes and is quite fun.0 -
We have this Cuisinart model. It's $52, and has excellent ratings. There is a newer model that is slightly more expensive, and also has great ratings. They've both been highly recommended by Cook's Illustrated.
