Barefoot runners in winter

Those of you who run barefoot - what do you do when cold temperatures roll around, and it starts to become uncomfortable for your feet?
I'm wondering if I need to look into getting a minimal shoe, but I don't want to shell out the bucks for them. I have VFF Sprints, but I find that I don't like running more than 2 miles at a time in them because I start to feel constriction around my toes (which is still not quite as the constriction I feel in my NB running shoes, which is just one of the reasons I hate them even though they were supposed to be so awesome for me.)
Or do you just hang it up for the winter and stick to the treadmill until the ground warms up?
