Were the same height and age and I'm 127lbs and was classified as underweight when I hit 130lbs, you're fine! :)

Clearly your mother is just concerned for your health. You admitted to a previous eating disorder and yeah, I'd be worried you're going back to your 'old' ways too as a mom. I don't think it has anything to do with her being overweight (just my opinion). Take it easy on her but if you feel your goal weight is TRULY healthy talk to her, take her with you to see your doctor. Maybe if she hears it from the doc she'll feel better.

I understand why she's worried which is why I want to show her my goal is perfectly healthy. And she does have a skewed perception of healthy weights. She thinks 160 is perfect for my height.

Your profile says you are 18 years old. I don't see how it's any of her business. Does she watch you eat every single bite of food every day? How is she in control of your weight loss?

She's not in control of my weight loss. I plan on continuing it, however I want her to see my goal is healthy an not to worry.

I think you look lovely and would kill for legs like that in the left picture. I think the right picture is plenty thin enough. Any less weight and I would worry like your mom. Also, if you want to get more shape you could do weight-training and be sure to up your calories to build that muscle.

Just what I see in the photos. denise:drinker: :drinker:

You really sound like you've got a good head on your shoulders for being so young. Show your mom some of my pics. I'm 5'7" and currently 136. Do I look "too skinny"?? Ummmm....no.

I think your goal is completely reasonable. She's your mom though, so it's kinda in her "job description" to worry about you. Maybe try to reassure her that you're just trying to get healthy and don't intend to keep lowering and lowering your weight loss goal....just a thought. Best wishes!!

If you are eating good, healthy whole foods and lots of them like you are supposed to be, I am sure she would be happy.

You have your diary closed so I can not see it to tell if there is reason she is worried, such as you under eating.

Also, eat your dinner then go for a run.

Be healthy, she cant complain about that.

Your mother has every right in the world to be concerned about you. Any mother that was not worried about her child that is in recovery for an eating disorder would be a piece of crap in my mind. She loves you, she wants what is best for you, she is not trying to punish you.

There's a BMI chart for "children" (under 20 years of age you need to use this chart). Your BMI is 22.7 and you're in the normal weight range for your height and weight. How can your Mom argue with a medical chart?? I'm 5'11" and I weigh 143 and everyone says the same thing to me (I'm MUCH older than you so I use the adult chart LOL). You're not in the unhealthy range until your BMI falls below 18. Not to worry, you're fine! I'm sure your Dr. would tell your Mom the same thing. Good luck!

Yeah, that's pictures of miley cyrus. That's what is says on her profile.

I think that 160 and 5'7" is overweight, especially for an 18 year old when people tend to be naturally skinny. Not sure why some people are telling her that her mother is reasonable.

I think their offspring's health is always a mother's business. You don't stop being a mother just because your child hits 18.

In the original post, it says that she is now 146 pounds and wears a size 7. Her goal is 135.

Yes I know. I was referring to her mother saying that she wants her to be 160. I think her mother is unreasonable. I think that 135 is a good goal for her.

Your goal seems pretty reasonable, though I understand the concern, given your past. Perhaps you could show her charts showing your goal is a healthy one, and maybe contract with her that if your goal starts to move, or your actual weight, past a certain number (say, 130) she has your permission to dag you to a doctor, nutritionist, and/or eating disorder specialist according to her best judgement. Make her feel heard, while making yourself heard. Enlist her as an ally in your quest for a healthy attitude toward your body image. Your history of an eating disorder shouldn't mean you can't try to lose weight when appropriate. It does, however, give your mother the right to be concerned when you are attempting to lose weight.

Since you have struggled with an eating disorder in the past, have you considered trying maintenance for 3-6 months and work on strength training?
