Hello guys! I just found out about this website. I wanted to make sure that what I am doing is the right way to go about it. So once I downlaoded the app it gave me a number of calories that I am suppose to eat/day to get the weight loss I want.

1) So my main question is, so I eat anything until I reach those calories that I am suppose to eat? I am set at 1500 calories. So I can eat my regular meals (with chocolate) and fruits etc until I read 1500 calories. Will that work or not because I am not completely switching over to a healthy diet..however I am taking in exactly or less than 1500 calories.

2) When I exercise, I will lose some of the calories that I was suppose to eat (1500 calories)..so I still need to eat to come back up to the 1500 mark or leave it down if I am not hungry.

I hope following this calorie plan will help me out and it is actually accurate. I would like to hear from you guys, since there are so many helpful people lurking around here!!
:)

Absolutely! Eat your regular meals and log everything! Eat whatever you like, as long as it is within your calorie budget.

When you log exercise, the calories you burn will be added into your food budget -- so eat them! They will help replenish your body.

I'm sure more people will have more things to say, but these are the basics.

    Welcome!

Thanks! I was just wondering if the calorie counter is accurate and wanted to make sure I do things the right way.

Thanks again, I hope to meet more nice people like yourself!! :)

Give the calorie counter a few weeks and if you are dissatisfied, then adjust it. Just remember it will take your body several weeks of fluctuation to get used to the new changes. Be patient. :)

It is if you weigh and measure your foods accurately. If you arent weighing, it is still possible to be somewhat accurate, but very easy to underestimate.

If you're eating pre-packaged food, check that the entries on here are accurate (often they're not, due to recipe variations over time or in different countries), or enter the values in yourself as new food items. Good luck!

Yes that is a good place to start. But if you are not losing weight over time you can always adjust your calories by 100 in either direction.

If you are a female over 12% body fat or a male over 6% body fat you don't have to worry about starvation mode. It's a myth if you have significant energy stores and is only true as your energy stores diminish.
We’ve been trying to figure out an exact NUMBER of calories that everyone should be eating,
without recognizing that everyone is slightly different. In truth, the calories aren’t the end game.
Your body is. So the EXACT amount of Calories that are right for you is the EXACT amount that will
allow you to maintain your ideal bodyweight no matter what some calculator or chart
    says.

In other words, an online calculator might tell you that you need to eat 2,500 calories
per day to maintain your ideal bodyweight. But the only way to know for sure if this is
the right amount for you is to test it out. If you gain weight or can’t lose weight eating
that much, then you know you need to eat less to lose weight no matter how many
calculators and text books say otherwise.

This doesn’t mean your metabolism is broken, it just means the estimate of your needs
    was just a bit off.

Thanks guys!! It was just the questions that I had. So even if I workout and go lower than the specified calorie value, I wont eat if not needed. Give it a few weeks to see if there any changes.

BTW, how long did it take before you all started seeing results?

Another question for all you gelpful fellas out there:

I chose my activity level as "Sedentary: Spend most of the day sitting (e.g. bank teller, desk job)"

Even thou I do walk around and get myself busy I want to put myself down as "mostly sitting" so I can work a bit harder based on the plan I get...is that still ok to do with the plan thats laid out by the app?
