i have 20-40lbs i want to lose.. ive been "trying" for months now and have endless excuses (too tired/too stressed/**** it/etc) i feel bad bc most ppl have lost 50-100+ pounds and im a cry baby about 20-40. ive done this before so i know its possible and to be honest i dont know why im writing bc most people will be like just do it. what do u do that u stay with that was positive that works for you? i have a gym membership at an amazing gym i love going but its the eating i have trouble with. maybe i just need to lower my expectations with this but i torture myself oh if i can lose all the weight before thanksgiving and christmas so people will think im amazing since im thin. its so messed up i know i just need a positive boost and some help. what did you do?

Sounds like you've got the tools - a gym membership, so access to the equipment and I would assume classes. You've got MFP for tracking your goals, calories, proteins, carbs & fats, and exercise calories burned. You've clearly got the desire to lose the weight, or you wouldn't be here.
I would start small - don't lower your expectations, you can do this, but take it slow and do it smart - this is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix. Aim for losing 10lbs. Start logging all your food, making sure you're hitting your protein, fat & carb goals. A great place to find help for setting your goals is through this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12 GREAT info in there - it has helped me out big time! Exercise, start using that gym, and get a good mix of cardio and strength training.
And make sure you fuel your body - don't try to eat too little, do some exercise & expect pounds to drop off. You may lose a little at first doing that, but the body quickly adapts by hanging on to every bit you give it - as it says in the link I added, don't give the body a reason to store fat!
When you hit your first goal of losing that 10lbs, reevaluate, run your numbers through the tools in that thread again, adjust your calories as needed, and set your goal for the next 10lbs. You can do this!0
