Insanity Issues...HELP!

I finished my first insanity round of insanity and only lost 5 inches total around my whole body and actually gained a couple pounds! (which i think is the muscle mass i built?)
I ate relatively healthy throughout the program but did not follow the exact "insanity food plan"
and I did drink alcohol about 2-3 of the days....
I am thinking about starting my second round of insanity, with a little over 1 month in between my 1st round and this one..
Is this a normal outcome for people who have done insanity?
or was this kinda a fluke and I should do the workout program again??
kinda lost my motivation because i feel that it might be a waste of my time if I end up with the same results as last time..
MY STATS:
23 yrs old
5'1"
160 lbs
moderate activity
1420 calories/day

no like total including all my body....only 5 inches..
(maybe 0.2 inches on my arms, 1 inch on each leg to = 5 inches)0 -
I agree that loss of 5 inches is awesome. I think your overall fitness is a lot better than where you started off. I started round 2 two weeks after finishing round 1. I did not follow the nutrition plan, I tried to eat calories recommended by MFP and ate back all of the exercise calories. Have you tried other workout programs and what were your results?
Assuming you have the same results as the first time, loosing 5 inches is a great achievement? Also, did you use a heart rate monitor calories burned?0 -

Yeah my cardio did get a lot better, and that was awesome but I was just hoping for more of a physical appearance difference.... after researching all of the before and afters of other people i got like bare minimum i feel like... and the 5 inches i just rounded to...it was so minimual of what i lost that i didnt add the decimals and just guessed about 5.
this is kinda my first go at workout programs... i have a problem with finishing them to see results so when i didn't get much out of one of the hardest workout programs....kinda "de-motivating" ya know?
and yes, i did use a HRM.0 -
After my first round of insanity I only lost about 5lbs but gained a lot of strength and endurance. Despite the small scale movement I decided to do a second round, but this time i started with month 2 instead of doing the entire program over again. the second time around I noticed I could do a lot of the moves to their full potential and I could keep up with everyone in the video which really made a difference and gave me way better results then the first time around. The first time i wasted a lot of time wondering if i was even doing the move right, where as this time i focused on doing the moves so i could actually "feel the burn" lol. Overall the scale didn't really move again, but I looked way different in my before and after photos. So take photos and compare them because they are better indicators then numbers Goodluck!0

Were you eating back your exercise cals? With an intense program such as Insanity, you need to properly fuel your body and try to at least loosely follow the nutrition guide. I don't follow the P90X guide but I did set my macros on MFP and made my own versions of a lot of the foods in there. If I'm gonna kill myself working out, I'd better follow thru with the nutrition. Results are a combination of the exercise AND nutrition...0 -

Your stats are somewhat similar to mine when I started my first round. I'm 5'3" and started at 170. I thin you aren't eating enough. In the beginning, I was eating about 1800 calories a day. The scale wasn't moving, but I was losing inches like crazy. I stupidly lowered my calls to about 1500 in hopes of moving the scale, but all that happened is I stopped losing inches. Went back to 1800--bam, results again. And at 1800 the scale did eventually start moving. I lost 8 lbs my first round, and about 14 inches (waist, hip, thigh, bust).
Eat more!0 -
So you don't think 1420 cals is enough? What should I put myself at? And how much should I eat back for exercise cals?
I don't really like eating EVERY single calorie back bc I just don't feel like I "burned" anything then...kinda a mind thing idk...
Again, I am 23, 5'1", 160lbs.
Is there any food/meals anybody feels should be a MUST HAVE while doing insanity??0 -
