will a day of indulging and no exercise be bad?

i usually eat pretty well, balancing healthy and indulging under 1400cal/day. i play a sport 5 days a week, 2+ hour practices. i've been losing weight overall, but what happens if on one day of the week i decide to eat to enjoy food (aka go over my calorie limit by 400+) and not exercise at all? i know it takes 3500 cal to gain a pound, but how does this work in terms of the "metabolism reset" theory?

I say go for it, having a day to just enjoy yourself and going over the limit without exercise for a day isn't going to drastically change your metabolism, now if you starting doing this every 5 days of the week, then you will start seeing some changes, probably the kind of changes you don't want to see0
