Some Mornings? What's Up with that?

I go meet up with my running partner for our regular Sunday long run with a snot locker full of phlegm and serious DOMS in my legs from Wednesday's squats and deads. I ate nothing but crap and beer yesterday and didn't go to bed until midnight last night. I get to my buddy's house and he bails because he ate crap yesterday and is having gastric distress. I figure, screw it, I'll go for a nice slow 8 (was originally going to do 11 but had not tunes and no partner).
I had to keep forcing myself to slow down and every time I looked at my watch another mile had gone by. As I was getting close to my house I was at 9 miles and still feeling great so I veered down another road and kept going until I finally decided I just wanted to go home. Got home at 11.5 miles and still feeling strong.
My normal target pace for my long runs is 10 minutes. I did 11.5 today at an average of 9:19. And I thought it was going to be a crappy run.
Now I'm going to make pancakes!

Yep, you never know until you get out there. I've had days where I start out crappy and stay feeling crappy, just get it done. Other days can't wait to get out there and then feel like crap. But those are both rare, usually it's ALL GOOD. Can't wait to get out there and love it most of the way especially after the initial warm up.
Great job. Enjoy those pancakes.0
