Decisions, decisions, decisions...

I'm 48 years old, current weight 138, starting weight 245, and I'm 5' 5" tall. I have gone from 0 exercise to 60+ minutes of interval elliptical training (following Podrunner Intervals) at an average speed of 6 mph. My goal weight when I started was 130 pounds based on a medium frame and it just sounded good.

Well, weight loss has gotten consistently slower over the past several months, so I thought I should reevaluate my crazy goal because it sounded good. I looked this up:

Individual Weights (http://www.cordianet.com/calculator.htm):
Hamwi Based Calculations: 112 pounds for a small frame, 125 pounds for a medium frame, and 137 pounds for a large frame.
Robinson Based Calculation: 126 pounds.
Miller Based Calculation: 132 pounds.
BMI Based Calculation: 138 pounds.

Should I keep plugging away, adding weight training (of course) or just wait and see? Weight training was already on the agenda when the temps cool off (it's Houston--it's hot in the garage)....

I'm of the opinion that your calorie deficit right now will not be effected by any of the above changes in goals, and therefore at this time it's irrelevant as far as your actual method goes.

As a fellow 5'5"er who experienced a similar slowdown at the same weight area, I'd say to go ahead and move to the strength training and start focusing more on measurements and body fat reduction rather than the number on the scale.

Also remember that the closer you are to a goal weight the slower and slower you'll lose weight. Your body just becomes more resistant to letting go of those last pounds of fat. You'll want to be extra precise about weighing our food and keeping your deficit lower, 500-250 or so.

Awesome job on your weight loss so far and good luck on the remainder of your journey!
