Pipiwai Trail (Maui Hawaii) PICS

Thought some of these views were just to pretty not to share. That and I don't look half as bad as I did in my last vacation, and this hike is now easy where before it would have popped my heart out of my chest.

If you ever visit Maui I suggest you do this hike. It's Pipiwai Trail through the Seven Sacred Pools. It's about 2 miles up and 2 miles back I believe. It includes Waimoku and Makahiku Falls. Hiking through this trail eventually leads you through a bamboo forest into Waimoku, which runs 400-feet down a lava rock wall into a boulder filled pool; this is the tallest falls on Maui. A banyan tree that looks like the tree of life can be found along the way.

^For some reason I have a huge gut in this pic and my legs are rotten but the banyan tree is to pretty not to share. Also showing off one of the many random fruits that I didn't know what it was but decided to eat. That one tasted like poison...but the red ones were good

^Also, does anyone know what this spider is? It leaps on you when you point at it and leaps off if you pull away and you can repeat over and over and over. *go to take a picture* *spider leap on me* *pull hand back* *spider leap back* *repeat* *find happy medium* *snap*

This was my favourite part of my trip to Maui! The way the bamboo clacked and rattled together was kind of creepy too. Such a spectacular place!

Wow!! I need to add Maui to my bucket list!

And don't be so foolish, when I saw the picture that you described as you having a "gut" in, I thought you looked amazing!! From what I can see, your stomach muscles are contracted from the way you're sat on the tree... and they look good!! A stomach to envy :)

I know right? I thought this place was pretty...I couldn't get over how durastically scenery changed from one side of the island to the other. It was beginning to get dark when we started hiking back so it was pretty creepy in the clacky bamboo forest. I loved it. And spectacular doesn't even begin to describe it. It was beyond breath taking. I really appreciate how Hawaii has kept it's natural beauty even though it's becoming a giant tourist trap :P

    I told you I had one ;)

Mahalo for teaching me another Hawaian word *shaka*

I've been to allot of the Carribean, Floridia, New York, allot of Canada, some parts of the states in small doses...and as much as I loved the Carribean for the wild life (I like snakes and scaley things), I think Hawaii is up there for my favorite place.

    You do!

I think every girl wants their stomach to look small as humanly possible in pictures. I felt rather bulky in the gut in that pic though. Might have something to do with me gorging on all of the possibly not good for you fruit in the forest

My wife and I went to Maui for our 10th anniversary. We drove the Road to Hana, but did not take this hike. Maybe next time we visit. For our 20th, we went to the Big Island. I'm not sure which one I liked more, but both are better than Oahu.

I'm glad you guys didn't have to cancel out on this awesome vacation. Hawaii is too beautiful a place not to visit.

Thanks guys and tmch you definitely need to take the hike, it was probably my favorite part. Be sure to try out random questionable looking fruit along the way lol. We're thinking about visiting the big island some day, any recommendations for what to do (other then pearl harbor and watch lava spew from the volcanos?)

You guys are silly. You'd hate Australia and the Carribean :P I ran into allot of venomy things there.

I own scaley things and I usually only like spiders when they're fuzzy but this one was cute because it was hoppy, looked like it was wearing sun glasses and wanted to be my friend

Thanks for the pics! I'm going with my SO and our 14 year old son next month. I'm in ok shape now, but I'm worried about the other two - they're not really in shape. How well is the trail marked and what level of difficulty? How long did it take?

The Big Island is so diverse. I went back in '08. We flew into Kona and stayed at the Marriott Waikoloa which was perfect for us (not crazy big like the Hilton but still upscale with it's own beach). We drove up north and visited Waimea which is cowboy country with mild weather and grasslands. We drove all the way around around to Hilo on the east coast but had to stop all the time on the way for one picturesque thing or another - like Akaka Falls and Rainbow Falls. We finally made it down the south coast to see the lava spill off the cliffs into the ocean at night but that changes throughout the year. I do want to go up to Mauna Kea one day.
