Unfortunately people setting up auto-programmed intake calculations for mfp may not , uh, be able to get them ideal for every one.
Carbs are not a necessity. We eat way too many of them, and the ones we do eat are generally a load of crap, like bread, etc. Also, if you were in the wild, or say, a few years ago, you probably wouldn't be eating fruit every day. You'd eat a ton of it in the spring and summer, get fatter, so you can survive the winter.
Most people have trouble getting in calories because they don't understand the importance of fat, which will give you twice as much caloric content per gram. It's also essential to your survival and hormonal stasis. Unfortunately MFP doesn't really "explain" the reasons why you're told to eat whatever. And it's impossible to get it right for everyone. Eat more fat and meat, and less carbs. Avocado and olive oil, walnuts. Add olive oil to your protein shake if you must. I'm not a fan of protein shakes but it's better than nothing. two servings of olive oil a day and you've got0
