Read this before buying futbit

Two new ones will be out soon. Zip and one. Released 17 September and October. Not sure about UK though.
Google it. Can't believe it, spent months deciding to buy. Now I have, they bring out a newcomer almost immediately!!!The zip can be bluetoothed to some phones and has a vibrating alarm to wake you gently. The Inevis cheaper and doesn't do stais or sleep but also bluetooths.

That's technology for you. ;-) As soon as you buy something the next model comes out. I would - actually I will ignore the next model and keep using the one I have.

Technology updates are a pain in the *kitten*. Now I feel like I'm going to need to update my Fitbit and my iPhone 4 to a 4s or 5 so they will work together

You could probably cancel it if you wanted to wait a month.

I know but I've been waiting to buy it for forever, or so it seems, so I am just going to see how I like this one and I might try the other ones if I like this one enough.

the main thing about the zip is it uses a watch battery that lasts 4-6 months and cannot be recharged like the ultra, but it is waterproof which is definitely nice

I'm upset, but the Fitbit One looks so/is much better.
I just got the Ultra a little less than a month ago.

I'm not seeing a functional difference between One and Ultra. Anyone see it??

other than it syncing with a smartphone via Bluetooth and waterproof, I don't really see a difference

The one will sync via blue tooth to the Apple Ipone 4s but not droid. The one is water resistent not water proof.

Us droid users are out of luck right now for the blue tooth sync.

Water resistant - you can sweat on it a little but not take it swimming....

Love my Ultra (it's my second one. FitBit Replaced Fitty 1, who fell into a porcelain pool and died). the One looks good for running in the rain but I just putting Fitty Deux in a ziplock and a pocket. If they ever come out with full waterproof, I'm in. (And need to buy a leash for this one because it's just a matter of time until I kill it otherwise)

The new one appears to ,ore like a standard pedometer -- no stairs or sleep data. I'd miss that! Plus, although I get sweaty, I rarely get wet -- it never rains in Southern California. The only time my FitBit got wet was that unfortunate toilet oops incident, but quick rescue and the rice trick and back to normal...

FWIW, I've had a FitBit Ultra since beginning of January of this year. Would not have been anywhere near as successful without it. Knowing how much I'm burning really helps keep me on track with how much Keeping score helps!!! And it makes me compete with myself and my FitBit-using pals. I love hitting milestones, creating new records for myself.

Vibrating alarm, Bluetooth (hooray! No more can-only-sync-through-base-station!), water-resistant case.

Might be enough for me to upgrade to the One.
  • If you purchased within 30 days they will exchange it for a different model. I just bought the ZIP since there's no need for me to track my sleep.

There's two versions in discussion -- the ZIP is the lower-priced lower-feature model. The ONE is the "upgraded" Ultra. Zip would be great to buy for my daughter and see if she really is serious about a Fitbit. :)
  • There are actually 2 new fitbit devices coming out. The Zip and the FitBit One.

The zip is a lesser version that just measures your steps, distance, and calories burned. It does not measure stairs or your sleep. But it will sync with Bluetooth. It uses the watch battery that is said to last 4 - 6 months, so therefore you don't have to charge it. And it is supposed to be water resistant.

FitBit One has all the same features as the FitBit ultra, in that it measures steps, distance, calories burned, stairs climbed, and hours slept. Now it has a silent vibrating alarm to wake you from sleep. It not only measures how long you slept, but it is also supposed to measure the quality of your sleep, ie. light sleep, deep sleep, awake. It will also sync with your phone, (certain models only) through Bluetooth. You can pre-order these now, they aren't out yet though.

It's all on their website, or if you're like me and get their emails, they should have emailed you with all these details.

Like all fun gadgets, as soon as you buy one, they come out with an even better version!
