Science would have to start sharing this planet with Magic again. I believe we've evolved enough to work together. If we need more space to make this happen, we can take it out of the Religion fund. Religion isnt pulling its weight anyway, its supposed to make people more compassionate. Its not working, so we need to put our faith back in Magic and Science.

No it's a good point I think. Being English our footballers are a bit of an embarassment, more interested in bed-hopping, arguing and scandal than football or good sportsmanship. In spite of the astronomical salaries they get, we haven't won a Word Cup since 1966. Meanwhile we've had the Olympics and Paralympics and seen some incredible performances from athletes who will never get that money or exposure. My current feeling is that anything deserves more money than football.

She's talking about American football and the culture of it in our schools. It's incredibly insane. They're eliminating art and music and even phys ed from schools across the country, but you're not allowed to touch the football programs.

Not saying more money shouldn't be put into music and art (I was a full participant in music programs when I was in school) but Football and other sports bring in a lot of money to schools. When was the last time thousands of people paid to go to a high school art show or band show or choir show or musical etc...

I was pretty fortunate though in that the small community I grew up in supported music and art as well as the sports.

If you take from the rich to give to the poor who will create more jobs? Without the chance to be successful (and rich is a part of that) no one will be willing to take the chance on new innovation. We will be left with a bunch of poor and no jobs :ohwell:

We need to give incentive for people to be successful, incentive for people to innovate, incentive for people to create jobs... what incentive is there if we take the money they earned and give it to those who did not earn it??

Fairer taxes for a start; Billionaires would probably moan about it and assassinate me but they won't miss a few thousand bob here and there to pay off a huge chunk of the country's debts. Poorer folks who just couldn't afford it wouldn't be taxed as harshly.

I'd make GCSE resits more available to people who fail, and pay the best, most inspiring teachers out there to spark a love for learning in troubled kids that would otherwise go on to be unemployed.

I'd lower tuition fees for university, with a view to eventually eradicating them for those in a certain income bracket.

Schemes to intervene with potentially anti-social children at an early age, and parenting classes for the parents who let them run wild.

I'd try to wipe out hate and bullying of all forms, and I'd clamp down on the media as well - it kinda bugs me that my future kids will grow up with idealised, objectified, "beautiful" men and women shoved in their faces through advertising, etc.

I'd clamp down on drug use, drink-drivers, domestic violence, anti-social behaviour, etc.

Mexican Mondays, where we all wear ponchos and sombreros and eat fajitas

And I'd probably get a team of artists to grab some paint and turn the exteriors of bland office buildings into psychedelic masterpieces.

Ooh, and I'd try to revive Britain's manufacturing industry as well C:

If you want a fair tax system eliminate ALL income tax, capital gains tax, property tax and replace it with SALES TAX. then everyone is paying taxes. foreigners, "illegal's", RICH, Poor and everyone in between. The rich would pay more because they would be buying more and more expensive things, but everyone would contribute. This would include Sales Tax on all items except necessity food items. So soda, chips, cookies, beer, smokes, would all be taxed as well.

1: Revamp the welfare system - I understand that there are times where people REALLY do need help and I do believe that a civilized society SHOULD help but, those getting the help WILL work for it. They might work in a kitchen providing meals for schoolkids or they might work in a garage installing batteries and tires but, they WILL work and not just sit there with a hand out.

2: Feeding the hungry - I have been to countries where starvation IS a real thing. The food is there but the "bad guys" keep the food from getting to those who really need it. "How will you feed the hungry?" you ask.

3: Give the UN some real teeth - It is horrible to watch the blue helmets sitting by while all of these things are happening. Most of these Soldiers WANT to help but, world politics will not let them squeeze that trigger. Take off the leashes and let these men and women do what they do best. Protect the weak.

4: Bring back the road crews - I am sick of seeing prisoners sitting in air conditioned jails while watching cable television. Put them on clean up crews.

I can agree with all of that!! I have volunteered plenty of times to help clean up the park or the side of the roads or the local rivers... this is all work that can be done by those taking welfare while they are trying to get a job to take care of themselves and family. I don't believe we should allow people to suffer while they are down, but I don't believe a free ride will help them either.
