Chicken Soup - Help!!

Okay, so I recently made some home made chicken soup. I currently have a bit of a soup addiction. My issue is that I feel like whenever I have soup it prevents my weight loss progress. I thought it would be healthy. I don't know if it's water weight, sodium, or what. I made it using this recipe:
http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/2458/chicken+soup
Except I added salt reduced chicken stock and used free range thigh fillets. It said on the recipe that it was around 300 calories per cup (I probably have about 2 cups), which I don't understand because isn't it just water, vegetables and a bit of chicken? Which would normally be a healthy meal, but just in soup form.
Help would be appreciated!!
