I read an article that stated drinking low-fat chocolate milk after exercise has a lot of benefits.... Does anyone know if that is true or not, I mean you don't have to tell me twice, to eat or drink anything chocolate! HA!

Lots of folks here drink chocolate milk as a recovery drink, me included. I don't always, but often after a run or workout I do, especially if it's going to be awhile before I can eat breakfast after the workout.0

If you are hungry then sure. You don't HAVE to have anything after you exercise, but having something is not counterproductive either. Can you drink or eat anything you like whenever you want as long as you hit your macro\calorie targets every day. That said a lot of liquid\empty calorie type consumtion will hinder feeling full while on a calorie deficit making it harder to not exceed your daily calories. Conversely doing such can make HIGH calorie consumtion easier if that is your current goal.0

The idea is to refuel your metabolism. There are lots and LOTS of opinions about this here on MFP, and even among the 'experts'. I try to refuel within 30 mins of my workout on the advice of my nutritionist/dietician who says that chocolate milk is a good source of protein and calcium for a refuel. She says to try to keep it between 180-220 calories and about 8-10 grams of protein so chocolate milk certainly falls in that range. I like something a bit more portable so I go more for protein bars.0

After I workout, I make a healthier version of chocolate milk. I pour a cup of almond milk and add a scoop of chocolate whey protein powder. Tastes just like chocolate milk and it helps me reach my daily protein goal.0

Science has proven there is no need to refuel immediately after training but if it works for you, go for it. Chocolate milk rocks0

To get more nerdy than is warranted, the exception to this and my first post would be if you are doing multiple glycogen depleting workouts in the same day. Then you would need to replenish glycogen in between0 -
