I did it!

At my work (where I'm sitting most of the day) we have a "food forum" previously known as the "fat forum" where people can bring in their treats to share. I've been pretty good about cutting back my sweets and of course today someone had to bring in a wonderful huge chocolate cake (I've been wanting chocolate cake for a good 2 weeks now). So being good I cut myself a small slice (just a sliver). From that small slice I only ate half of it before I decided I had enough. The old me would have devoured that whole slice and probably went back for another slice. I'm really proud that I was able to endulge in a sweet, but also control myself from over eating. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be too.

congratulations! that's awesome. i can completely relate to that. it's a great feeling to give yourself another treat, but not over do it. i think, mentally, that was a big step for me in knowing i was well on my way to a life long change, not just some diet where i would fall back in to old habits once i stopped dieting. be proud of yourself...you should be!

Congrats!!! What great self control! When I want something sweet and decide to bake I keep one for me, a couple for my husband and give the rest to co-workers or my neighbors! Needless to say the co-workers and neighbors love me!!

    Keep up the good work.

That is awesome, Morgan! I think it is important to allow yourself a little bit of indulgence every now and then. But you're right, once you start getting on track, it becomes more easy to not over do it. Your motivation to continue on your path is stronger than your craving for sweets. I think you'll find that the more distance you get between your old eating habits and your new lifestyle, the less you will find those foods appealing. At least that's how it's been for me in the past. Keep up the fabulous work! You're inspiring me!
