Sounds silly but here is my recent idea to lose weight..... Would love feed back. Plan name "Journey of a thousand miles" Strapping on a pedometer I walk 5 miles per day at and average of 3.0 miles per hour over the next 200 days. I would be burning 477 calories a day for a total calorie burn in the next six and a half months of 95,455 calories. Now they say To lose a pound of fat, you must burn 3,500 calories. So if I maintained a low healthy calorie intake I could lose 4.5 lbs a month just from walking and I would have a quest of 1000 mi to drive me on. Goals are a big push to me so the challenge og logging all those miles would be encouraging. Add in calories burned from strength training and the calories naturally burned during the day I think it is possible to up the safe 1 to 2 lb weight loss per week to 3-4 lbs a week bringing my goal of 60 lbs to lose possible in much shorter time period, say 5 months vs 8 months. Is this an attainable goal?

It is only "safe" to lose as much as it is safe to lose at any given time. The more you have to lose, the safer a higher amount is. I think 2lbs per week is safe all the way down to at least 10% bf (for a man). I think more is safe if you are higher bf.

I have 60 lbs to loose and BMI is I think 31, not so good! So I could probably do this for a while safely? I think.

Also I checked out your profile and see you have done a lot of weight lifting so I wonder if you could give some advice. i was gidted with naturally muscular legs, not fat muscle....not something a girl really wants, but I do love to spend some time on the leg press and standing calves. Is it possible to do these and slim and tone rather than bulk? Any ideas?
