So I have been on ketogenic diet????

I was just reading anything under 100 carbs a day will put you into some sort of ketosis because of baseline requirement for brain's glucose is like in the 120's I thinkkkk. Don't quote me on that.. I have just started reading about this...

Anyway I had a off weekend and ate a lot more carbs than I have been, and noticed I pee every 10 min today after resuming my normal diet... And so I looked it up and realized I was in Ketosis this whole time I think.....

It makes me even more afraid of carbs now... Because I know if I would of stepped on the scale I prob would of had a heart attack! Just judging on all the water I am expelling today and reading how carbs hold onto water... It's really weird I guess... I never even considered myself to be on a low carb diet, since I thought low carb was under 20... Boy was I wrong... Now I guess I'm looking for advise.. Am I Okay with eating around 50-100 carbs a day on the most part? Is there any bad things that can happen to me? Because this has been a normal routine for me for quite a while now, and never really thought about it...

Thanks

I`ve been on and off the low carb diet or the last 4 years...... when I`m on it I feel better, function better and lose weight...... when I go off it, I watch my calories to prevent weight gain, but I feel crappy, sluggish and don`t really enjoy the foods I`m eating....

My average carb intake is wait for it.......... usually around 20-30 a day and I`m in better shape overall than I have been for most of my life..... talk to your doctor.... and listen to your body..... not everyone is the same

    good luck :)

I agree with Jazzalea, listen to your body!

For my body and family history we do really well on low fat, plenty of carbs. I just have to be careful to not to eat the wrong kinds of carbs, like sugar (not from fruit), and heavy processed foods. Whole wheat breads are my best friend!
I tried different types of diets for a few weeks each, to give them a fair chance for my body to adapt, depriving myself of carbs made me feel ill.

Good luck, and keep going strong. You will meet your goals with perseverance!

The only fuel that works well for the brain is glucose. Choose the complex, high fiber sources such as whole grains, fruit and vegetables and get sufficient of each typically 5 servings of whole grain, 3 servings of fruits and 3 vegetable servings per day to avoid health issues dealing with lack of blood glucose... Additionally, the phytochemicals that are in the rainbow of natural plants as food sources(not Skittles) are essential to the functions of numerous organs and systems in the body. Read Dr. Joel Fuhrman's Blood Sugar Solution or Dr. Amen's Amen Solution for additional information that are key to good overall health and not just healthy weight. There is alot more to being healthy than just the number on the scale.
