Detox Challenge

After yo-yoing for the last few months and I have decided to take on a detox challenge, 21 days of eating "clean", lots of water and homeopathic detoxification drops. Has anyone else tried this? I'm hoping that doing a cleanse like this will kick-start me back into gear and clear my body so that it can heal itself and get back to a normal weight (for me). I'm doing this with my yoga teacher, who is amazing:

I would love to hear your stories about cleanses or detoxification that you may have tried with some success. Thanks for your feedback, you're all awesome!

Eating clean will make you feel better on its own. You don't need the homeopathic drops.

Cleanses are a gimmick. Homeopathic medicine is a joke........

Just eat clean....not for 21 days.......make it a point to continue this lifestyle.

Could you please explain how cleanses are gimmicks? Thanks.

The idea that you need help to clense your body is the gimmick. Your liver and kidneys do most of the work to rid your body of the trash.

As long as you are eating clean and drinking reasonable amounts of water, you should be fine :-) No need to fast, drink only juice, or take drops for the sole purpose of "clensing".

    Exactly what she said^^.

Your body naturally cleanses itself. If you haven't been diagnosed by a medical doctor with some malady that impairs your liver and kidney function, your body is doing a fine job of cleansing itself.

Selling you items that purport to do what your body is already doing on its own is a gimmick.

I've been diagnosed with hydronephrosis. Meaning my right kidney has holes in it and doesn't work properly (in laymans terms). But I still eat clean and stay away from "cleanses". In fact my doc told me those cleanses can do more harm than good.

Okay, people who bumped, here's what happened! Gimmick or not, three weeks into my detox and I have lost 3 pounds, I have stopped being dependent on alcohol and I have the energy I had 5 years ago. Now that's my kind of gimmick! Placebo effect you say? Who cares!

What they said was that you were doing nothing to "cleanse" your body and wasting money on the drops. Eating clean would give you more energy and eating a deficit would help you lose weight.

    No drops needed
