The Girl In The Mirror

(This is a poem I wrote when I was in the 10th grade- kinda sucks but I think a lot of you could probably relate so i'm choosing to share it)

I look in the mirror, but who is that I see
The face that stares back doesn't look like me;
How did this happen, it simply cannont be
when I envision myself, this isn't what I see.
That girl in the mirror, she looks kind of sad
I can tell the pain she feels hurts pretty bad;
How did this happen to her, it simply cannot be.
Her eyes tell a story of the way things used to be.
She wants to find a way out but she can't find the door,
so for now she stands in the mirror looking at the floor.
Afraid of her own reflection,
wanting a new direction;
she finds comfort in her food of choice,
she eats so no one can hear her voice.
Her soul cries out for help but to no avail,
she's stuck in this jail...
How do I get out of there?
Being stuck, my deepest fear...
I don't want to be the girl I see,
The girl in the mirror looking back at me.

    Very pretty poem. Thank you for giving strangers a glimpse inside your mind and heart.

    How about writing a Success Story to that?

    Maybe detail how you took ownership for what you see; how you decided to stop. How you chose Goodness? Maybe the success poem highlights the 'light' you've now-found? Maybe speak to our decisions solely responsible for the outcomes in our life - not of course the random acts of God and Nature - but for sure our self-image despite those things.

    You're gifted, ILMB. Keep going, honey.

    Aww thank you! I haven't written in years- i'm not sure how good it would be but I may have to try! I'm not a success , yet though...i'm still a work in progress. :) Thank you for your kind words!

    Honey you ARE a success. Good is a value judgment based solely up on the paradigm of the reader. Opening your inner-most to the masses makes you, by default, good in my book. Just go back to the mirror - remember the words you wrote years ago, and now look to see if you've changed your outlook. :)

    You got this. You can do anything. Anything but probably fly w/o the use of accessories. I mean...maybe you could, but don't bet on it. Everything else? yeah - you can do it.

    :) thank you! Though, I might have to try flying now (without the use of accessories)

    Yeah, Ive been there when I was much younger and even occasionally as an adult. Now I look in the mirror and see a reflection of the positive influences of the people I love and hold most dear to me, because its those qualities I work hard to develop and bloom inside myself and thankfully, I now associate those awesome qualities with my own smile. I try to see my smile before my body always. It tells the observer so much more.
