Wish me luck everyone! There are a couple of caveats - if I'm out and drinking is expected, I can have a max of two low-cal drinks. Glass of wine, for instance. And I can only do that if I've got room in my macros. Other than that... yeah, no longer. I can't keep doing it.

If you want to know why, check yesterday's log (9/17). I was doing so well, too!

I'm hoping it won't be too bad. I mean... what do I actually need alcohol for? I've proven myself perfectly capable of having fun without it, and it probably affects my sleep.

But I don't do well with deprivation, so I may be in trouble. :P I'll let you know!

Nobody "does well" with deprivation. Duh.

But 90% of that is mental. If you THINK you are being deprived and you THINK it will be hard and awful.....it will be.

When I started my weight loss, I cut alcohol completely for a month. And, to be honest, until I could trust myself, I just didn't go out. I skipped a friends birthday party and a few mimosa brunches with my friends and I stopped going to happy hour.

And you know what? I lost 15lbs in that first month and when I did re-introduce alcohol into my diet I drank A LOT less (I also started just going out a lot less which was good for my weight AND my budget). I didn't feel deprived.....I felt like I was doing something good for myself.

And I created habits that have sustained me and lead me to the 43lb loss I have so far. I'm back to having occasional drinks in my life but I view that totally differently now and I'm glad I went without for a while. If you can't go a month without booze, you probably have problems bigger than your weight. Just sayin.

Since MFP I have cut down on my alcohol consumption dramatically!!! However I do try and bank some cals over the week to enjoy a few (55cal) vodka and diet cokes when out with friends one night a week. However I have just done a half marathon which meant I barely drank a drop for a fortnight which was okay because I had my training to focus on. I did have a bottle of red afterwards though!

Good luck, I find non-drinking when everyone else is fairly tough, probably more because people aren't as interesting as they think they are when they're hammered! :ohwell: :flowerforyou:
