Do you take the time to get to know someone?

They say you only get one chance to make a first impression. Do you believe first impressions are an accurate representation of a person?

Or do you take the time to really get to know someone and base your feelings/opinions on that?

I'm talking about new people you meet, that you choose to associate with. (Not like co-workers who you have no choice but to spend everyday with)

My first impression of a person is usually 95% correct..... So that is what I go with.

If I have the time to get to know them, I will however most of the people I meet for the first time are just passing through...so I have to base it on my first impression.

I have been surprised by people who I believed to be one way and then end up totally different (both good and bad)...but on average, my first impression is pretty spot on.

I will always give someone a chance though.

As far as MFP, I try to get to know all my friends however some of them I know (and like) better than others (and I respond to them a lot more, too).

There are a lot of "normal" human behaviors that I find undesirable, so i always try to get to know before people before judging. Otherwise I'd just live life as a spiteful, judgemental *kitten*.

I hate the generic, superficial front most people have when you first talk to people, especially in social situations.

I take the time to get to know someone, not because I want to seem nice, but I'm actually interested.
I'm not going to judge someone based on my first impression, because not many people are outgoing when you first meet them, it takes time for them to break loose and dance on table tops.
