Homecoming Dress Opinions?

I bought this dress the other day for our homecoming assembly. They told us one shoulder/one strap dresses were okay to wear, but they need to be appropriate, and a "church-like" dress. They weren't very specific as to what they meant by "church dress", but I saw girls last year wearing dresses much shorter and more revealing than this one.
Do you think this dress is appropriate? Does it look good on me? Just wanting some 2nd opinions...
It's Ruby Rox brand, size 3. Got it at JCPenney's for $30.

It is very cute, but I wouldn't call it a "church dress."

Thanks! I'm going to show them this picture so they can decide. Not really a big deal if it's not, since I can always exchange it for another dress :)

    I like it on you!

It's covering your cleavage and it's not overly short, so it may be approved by the school.

As a Mom to a 16 year old girl, I would say that this is appropriate to wear to homecoming. My daughter wore a dress very similar to this to the sweet heart swirl dance last year. Very nice!
  • Looks very nice on you. As a mom I would allow my daughter to wear this to homecoming. Classy, elegant yet youthful and fun. Have a great time at the dance.

It looks cute, but it's not a church dress, unless you put a cardigan over it maybe.
  • I think it's cute and would be okay to wear to the dance. I wouldn't consider it a church dress but I don't think it's inappropriate. I think it would be a good idea to bring a picture of it to them and ask and that way if they say it's okay then you know forsure!

Thicker shoulder strap and you'd be fine. Like these:

    I'm assuming high school homecoming?!

As a mom to a daughter *she* would not be wearing something like this in HS. I would not call that a church dress and I think its more fitting for a 21yo to go to a club or night out with the girls.

Great deal though - save it for a few more years and get something like the pics posted above. Much more flattering and age appropriate.

I think by "church dress" they mean, would you wear it to church and feel comfortable? Ask yourself that.

But by what you say it appears they are lax on that rule if girls wore shorter ones int he past, so maybe it is only enforced when needed and blanket statement they put out in case they spot a dress they feel is inappropriate.
  • I can't see the picture

But I don't know what a homecoming dress should look like, or what a church dress is either, so I probably wouldn't be any help anyway. Sorry :flowerforyou:

Do your finger tips go to the end of the dress? That's how I always decide if something is too short :)
